Google Adwords: The Gateway to Good SEO

Posted by RocketFuel Team on November 17th, 2009

If a great website never gets visited is it still a great site?  Well yes, but something has to change.  We love search engine optimization and we recommend it for any website.  However, it does not work overnight.  It can take months to see real results from SEO.  So how do you jumpstart an Internet marketing campaign?  Google Adwords.  This is where you set a budget and your ad shows up at the top or side of the results page for the keywords you designate.  The upside to Adwords is that you will see your traffic increase quickly, but when you stop your campaign, the extra traffic you have been receiving will stop as well.

One of the great things about Adwords is your ability to set your budget.  If you would like to spend $20 a month, you can.  If you would like to spend $500 a month, you can.  The difference in these budgets is where you show up on the search engine results page and how often.   Of course if you choose to spend hundreds of dollars on Adwords, your traffic will be very high.  Immediate traffic comes at a price.  It is all a matter of how much you would like to spend.

For a long-term solution, we suggest implementing search engine optimization.  With a mix of keyword research, content development, link building and site architecture you can build a visible site.  As you start to see your traffic increase from your SEO efforts, you can begin to lower your activities in Adwords.  Using both of these Internet marketing tools, you can have consistent traffic coming in from the start of your website and on into the future.

If you need a hand with an Adwords account, or you just have questions about it, give us a shout.
