The True Meaning of Twitter Lists

Posted by on January 13th, 2010

Here at RocketFuel, we find Twitter lists useful and kind of fun.  Here is a great example of how we used it most recently.  When helping market an event, Memphis Brewfest, for some friends, we set them up with a Twitter account.  When looking for people to follow around Memphis, we used several lists labeled “Memphis”.  Shortly after following 156 people we started getting qualified followers that were asking questions about the event.

Aside from lists, we also used the search box to look for “Beer Memphis” to see if we could round up some drinkers in Memphis to follow.  Although the majority of those people that we followed came from user lists, we did find some people through the search box.

Lists can also be helpful when you need to group your twitter news into sections like sports, web marketing news or cooking advice.  Lists are a great organizational tool and marketers can also use them to find qualified followers.  Lists are useful after all.
