Andy McFarland, our CTO and one of the RocketFuel founders, is a natural brainiac. He started working with computers and technology in general at an early age.  He grew up working with computer hardware and software with his father and older brother. They would spend late nights playing games on the computer networks they had set up themselves. When he was 13, with a little help from his father, Andy put together a computer made of spare parts.  That’s right, a computer. From spare parts. His father had a computer company that he helped out with as well.

In the 90’s, Andy started playing around with HTML and web server setup.  By 2000, he had started developing web applications including programming, server administration, and HTML/CSS.  Andy worked with BlueLogic Design in 2001, where he helped develop at least one custom content management system (little did he know he would one day become the not-so-evil mastermind behind the fantastic RocketFuel CMS) for a site they were creating.

In “2000-something or other”, Andy came to work for Rocket Science Design where they were using Wordpress as a CMS, which just wasn’t cutting it.  This brought Andy and the Reuben to the decision to create a custom CMS to use for client websites.  And RocketFuel was born with Andy as one of it’s founding fathers (I don’t think he likes to be referred to as such, because a title like Founding Father should come with a top hat and a big white beard).

Fun facts about Andy: He hates sun and warm weather (he prefers a cave if available).  He will not answer to Randy, we have tried. He will probably build a super computer that will destroy us all, but for now we are safe.  If amazon delivered gourmet meals and groceries we would probably never see him again. It was nearly impossible to get any answers out of Andy as to how he came to be a genius.  Most of his answers are simply, “H”.
